Elysia appointed Ambassador for St John's Ambulance Cymru

Elysia G (Year 10) began attending St John’s Ambulance in November 2014.  She joined  to gain basic life-saving skills to count towards the six month ‘Skills’ section of the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award she was completing at school.

In March 2015 Elysia completed her Basic First Aid Training Course which qualified her to provide Cadet ‘duty’ within the community.  Since then she has provided over 200 hours' voluntary first aid ‘duty’ time to the local community.  Her duties have included providing first aid event cover at the Rugby World Cup, Wales International football, concerts, Cardiff Half Marathon, Ice Hockey and National Judo.   Elysia has also attended additional Cadet training courses both within her Division and nationally within St John’s Wales.  In September 2015 Elysia ran the Cardiff 10K and raised £265 for St John’s.  She is now working towards her Grand Prior Award and wants to work to support and encourage the younger Cadets within Cardiff and Vale.

Elysia’s contribution to St John’s Cymru was recognised early in November when she was appointed a Cadet Ambassador for St John’s Cymru.  Her award was presented by The St John’s Commissioner.  Congratulations, Elysia!
