Year 7 and 8 were inspired to become the computer programmers of the future last week, as they undertook the ‘Hour of Code’ challenge. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed learning about coding and creating fantastic games using ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Minecraft’ themes. The girls watched inspiring videos where successful programmers such as Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook and Bill Gates of Microsoft shared how they started out using basic coding to create simple games. Many of the industry’s most successful female programmers emphasised that coding is ‘not just for boys’!
