Boys buzzing after Boys’ Night

Boys from both Howell’s and local secondary schools were buzzing after the inaugural Boys’ Night which took place on Tuesday 9th February. The event started in the Great Hall where they enjoyed drinks and nibbles before staff member Mr Stiff and Head Boy Jonny H. welcomed the guests. The first speaker was inspiring young entrepreneur, Gareth Jones, who is Founder and CEO of  Welsh ICE, a company that generates and supports entrepreneurship in a sustainable way. Last November Gareth was named Entrepreneur Champion of the Year.  Everyone then moved to the Sport Café in Sally D’s where they were treated to chicken and chips before listening to the next speakers, Cardiff Blues player Macauley Cook and Welsh international rugby colossus Jamie Roberts. Macauley and Jamie were fascinating as they talked about their inspiring careers and lives. Questions flowed from the boys following their presentations.  The evening culminated in a motivating presentation from Glen Fendley, Head of Development at the GDST, who talked about his life, career and the role models who have inspired him. It was a wonderful evening. Thank you to all the staff who organised and supported the evening. A particular thanks to the catering team who provided delicious refreshments.
