Three Welsh National Swimming Champions in Year 10!

Over the Easter weekend, Marnie B., India B. and Claudia M. (all in Year 10 and all of whom swim for the City of Cardiff Swimming Club) competed at the Swim Wales Easter Nationals in Swansea. The championships were held long course (in a 50m pool).

Marnie B. won her fourth Welsh National title in a row in the 200m breaststroke, with over a seven second long course personal best time. She also secured a silver medal in the 100m Breaststroke with another long course personal best time.

India B. earned her first two Welsh National titles by winning the 50m and 100m butterfly events, again with significant long course personal best times, and is now ranked first in Wales for both. She also won a bronze medal in the 200m individual medley.

Claudia M. won her third Welsh National title in a row in the 50m freestyle, and she also took the silver medal in the 100m freestyle event.

In addition, all three girls were part of the very successful 4x50m medley relay team (Marnie breaststroke, India butterfly and Claudia freestyle), which won gold and set a new Welsh national meet record by over four seconds!

India and Claudia also had gold medal successes as part of the teams in both the 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x200m freestyle relay events. Marnie and India are now ranked in the top ten in Britain in the 200m breaststroke and 100m butterfly, respectively, and Claudia is ranked 17th in Britain for the 50m freestyle.

A fantastic weekend of fast racing by all three girls and congratulations go to them all.
