Sports news, 23rd - 27th May

The Year 10 rounders team played against the Cathedral School on Monday 23rd May and Radyr on Tuesday 24th May. There was great batting, with a good win against the Cathedral School and 1 win and 1 loss against Radyr. The girls are having a fantastic season! 

Well done to the athletics team from Years 8 and 9 who performed very well at Leckwith at the end of May, reaching numerous finals! Congratulations to Sophie S, Georgia MP, Jess J, Katie G, Shayanna S, Annabelle W, Grace W, Ava F, Amelia D, Lily J, Eadie D, Charlotte H, Lily R, Lucy C and Holly B). 

 

 

 

 

The senior tennis team returned from Bristol after a very hard-fought win 4-2 against The Red Maids' School in the National Championships. Great resilience was shown by Poppy D and Sophie S in the last doubles match to win in a 3rd set tiebreak. It was also a very successful day for Ismay B and Alicia L!

 

 

 

 

The Year 10 cricket team played The Cathedral School at Howell's. After the first innings both teams scored 5; then Howell's fielded brilliantly, winning 8½ to 5½. Year 10 also played Radyr at Radyr, for the first time. Howell's B team lost 10 ½ to 14 and the A team won 13 ½ to 4. The girls put on a great demonstration of batting and fielding.

The Year 9 rounders teams played against Rougemont and King’s Monkton schools, beating both teams comfortably. All students in Year 9 were able to enjoy an inclusive afternoon of sport; well done, everybody!

The Year 8 tennis match against Rougemont on 26th May was a fantastic afternoon of games in the sun! 15 girls played and won their doubles matches. Congratulations to: 
Annabelle W and Robyn D, who won their sets 6-1 and 4-0
Evie O and Katie G, who won their set 6-1
Pascha T and Amarah M, who won their set 6-1
Sophie S and Jess J, who won their set 6-2
Isabelle W and Ava F, who won their set 6-1
Lily R and Alicia L, who won their set 6-2 
Alice H and Holly P, who had a competitive draw.
