HE and Careers "Making Connections" Day

On Wednesday 29th June, our new Year 13 enjoyed their HE and Careers Day, with the theme of ‘Making Connections’. They heard from guest speakers Mr Viv Du-Feu, a partner from Capital Law, Ms Karen Kimura and Ms Emma Thomson from the GDST Skills and Alumnae programme as well as from an incredibly informative ‘Alumni Panel’ of current graduates, Gap Year students and graduates from Howell’s. Thank you to Meg, Josh, Suzana, Melissa, Sioned, Ethar, Elisa and Caitlin for the confident, informative and honest ‘pen portraits’ they shared, giving an insight into their life and university experiences.

The annual networking lunch saw Howell’s welcome over 45 guests from a range of academic and professional areas to meet and mingle with our students. Thank you to all of the friends and family who joined us. Feedback from the day was excellent with students commenting that ‘I got to speak to an expert in Psychology which was very helpful and he gave me lots of advice about the type of course that might suit me best’ (Jessica); ‘I loved talking to people in the world of work’ (Marianne), and ‘It was great learning to talk and engage with different people’ (Charlie).

If you would like to be part of our Howell’s Friends and Family Careers Network, supporting students with mentoring, interview skills and work insight days and experiences, please email Mrs Sian Matthews at S.Matthews@how.gdst.net
