Ski teams compete in Welsh Schools' Slalom Championships

Three Howell's ski teams skied brilliantly at the Welsh Schools' Dry Ski Slalom Championships on Sunday 11th October in Llangrannog, winning 15 medals between them. The Junior skiers, Jess M., Lucy M., Laura H. and Tirion J. were the first to ski. Competition was stiff with over fifty racers and although they weren't placed as a team, Jess won the U8 unregistered silver.  In the secondary competition there were over a hundred racers from all over Wales.  Our senior boys' team (Year 13  Ben J.  and Year 12s Harry H., Alex G. and Henry J.) were very successful, with Henry winning bronze in the unregistered U18 race and Harry silver. In the U21s Alex secured silver and Ben gold. Ben also came third overall across all age categories and Harry second. Our senior girls team also performed very well. Louise S. achieved silver in the U16 unregistered girls, Holly C. (captain) took silver in the unregistered U18 category and was second unregistered girl across all age categories, and Caitlin J. won gold in the U21 unregistered category. Congratulations also go to Ziraili U. (Year 8) who put in an excellent performance as an individual racer.

The senior girls came sixth overall and the senior boys third, both teams thereby qualifying for the British Schools' Championships, hosted this year in Wales at Pontypool Ski Centre in November. We wish them lots of luck in this major competition.
