St John’s Ambulance, Cardiff and Vale Cadet of the Year

Congratulations to Year 11’s Elysia G, who won the St John’s Ambulance Cadet of the Year for Cardiff and Vale over October half term.  The selection process was a tough one, and included: presentation, interview, group task, PR interview and a First Aid role play simulated case.   As Cadet of the Year, Elysia will represent St John’s Ambulance of Cardiff and the Vale as an Ambassador.  She will go on to compete in the National Cadet Finals which will be held early next year.

Over the last 18 months, Elysia has provided over 350 hours voluntary first aid cadet time to the local Cardiff community.  Her duties have included the Rugby World Cup, Wales international football, Cardiff half marathon, ice hockey, national judo, concerts and other large events requiring first aid cover within Cardiff and the Vale.  She is currently working towards her Grand Prior Award and has attended various cadet training courses both within her Division and nationally within St John’s Wales.  As a cadet leader Elysia keenly supports the junior (Badger) Cadets.

Elysia’s award was presented by the St John’s Ambulance Commissioner.
