UKMT Senior Team Challenge

After several weeks of intense preparation and feeling quietly confident, Desirée, Michal, Gopikaa and Chi set off on Thursday 24th November to take part in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Team Challenge at Cardiff University. There were 18 teams competing, each comprising of 4 students from Year 12 and 13. After a quick warm-up round and feeling ready for the challenges ahead, the competition started with the Group round in which the team worked together to solve 10 challenging questions. After a bit of a hesitant start in this round, Team Howell’s then put in a strong performance in the Cross Number round, raising their position significantly. The final round was the Mini Relay – the room was silent with concentration as they beavered away at these tricky questions, trying to complete them in a given time in order to be awarded bonus points. Well done to the team on coming 9th overall – a courageous effort, against stiff competition.
