Economics Conference

On Monday 28th November, our intrepid College Economists set out at 6:00am bound for City Temple, London to be part of the audience at the annual PolEcon Society Economics Conference. During the day we were fortunate enough to hear a number of thought provoking, challenging and topical presentations. The topics being discussed gave the students a valuable insight into applied Economics and have already furthered their knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of the subject. The theme of the day was ‘The UK Economy and Brexit’.

Speakers included the inspirational Economics author Tim Harford (The Undercover Economist would make an excellent stocking filler!), the Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury David Guake MP, BBC News Health Editor (former Economics editor) Hugh Pym, Carl Emmerson of the IFS and Stephen Davies of the IEA.

All students were impeccably behaved and were a credit to the College and their families. There would be no hesitation in taking this group of students to any future event/conference.
